La Culture Française

Page history last edited by Randa Thomas 13 years, 6 months ago

We are building a beautiful wiki of information and images abut French culture.

Task #1: New material

  1. Choose a topic of interest to you. Some topics that your predecessors liked are on the sidebar to the right.
  2. Research the topic using credible online sources. Depending on the topic, your choice of sources can be very broad. Just make sure what you're writing is true and up to date.
  3. Use at least 3 online informational sources. Cite your sources by creating a link to them in your posting.
  4. All information should be in your own words. If we wanted to hear what someone else said we'd just read what they wrote! So, summarize, draw conclusions, make connections. Your audience is your classmates and your teacher. Since this is a collaborative effort, you may find that someone has already written about your topic. Read what they said then add to it or edit it to make a better page. Identify your separate contribution with your initials or a different font type or color.
  5. Label your posting with your initials.
  6. Include images and/or appropriate video. These will enhance, not take the place of your words. Each image must be labeled so we know what it is and cite the source of the image.

Images do not support or enhance the content . (Images are non-specific clip-art samples, for example)

  No images used.

Task #2: Learn about another aspect of French Culture

  1. Look over some of the work of your classmates in other areas of interest. Read enough so that you can make some generalizations or ask educated questions. You can say things such as "Something that seems typical of French culture is___" and explain how you came to that conclusion. Or, "If French people love ________ so much, I wonder why they____."
  2. In the Comments box at the bottom of the page, write a brief reaction to something that strikes you as significant. You can comment on the wiki page or on other people's comments.
  3. Make connections to (compare/contrast) American culture or to another aspect of French culture.  This could be something that you've often wondered about, a surprising fact worth sharing with someone not in French class, a myth busted
  4. In your comment, be sure the reader knows to what you refer. Share an insight beyond "Cool!" and "I like it!" Clearly state your reaction so the reader (especially the teacher) can see that you "get it."  Include additional, clarifying links links if appropriate.

Comments lack insight, show no interest in other participants and/or are not of a positive nature. Many errors in grammar or mechanics greatly distract from content.
